Looking for a place to create a free website? There are plenty of resources that allow you to create you own website, blog, wiki, or social community without having to know any programming language. These free website creation sites allow you to easily create a site, customize the design, add content, and use a custom URL.
Take a look at 45 best web builders to create a free website.
Wix
I personally don’t have a lot of experience with Wix, but it seems like a very neat way to create free flash websites. They have separated themselves from the rest, since most of the free site builders only let you create html pages. One of the most advanced solutions for people without any coding experience to build powerful and good looking site easily and fast.
Google Sites
Hey its Google and they are letting you create a free site….so do it. As usual, Google makes it extremely easy to build a free website with cool integration features like Google Docs, Google Calendar, and RSS.
Windows Live Spaces
Webs
Google Knol
Google Knol came out about 2 years ago and even though it has not gotten the same praise as Wikipedia, it is still a valuable resource that you should take advantage of. Free easy to create your own free knol and help position yourself as an industry leader.
Jimdo
Jimdo is a new free website builder that is very clean and easy to use. As you can see in the screen-shot you can create your own url and add text, photos, and custom design.
AngelFire
Edicy
Squidoo
One of my favorite places to create a free webpage is Squidoo. Not only do these pages tend to rank well in the search engines, but you can monetize them by adding amazon affiliate products and links, share easily through Facebook and Tweetmeme buttons and much more.
Yola
Tripod
Wetpaint
Wetpaint is the place to go to create your own free wiki in a matter of minutes. Similar to the other website builders out there, however like a wiki anyone can add, edit, and remove content from the page.
WikiSpaces
Blogsome
Weebly
Hubpages
Hubpages is very similar to Squidoo, in the fact that you can build free pages and they tend to rank very well in search engines. You can also make money by adding affiliate products, links and adsense in your hub. It has all of the cool features that you would need including adding images, videos, ratings and reviews, and the ability to comment.
Piczo
Webnode
Moonfruit

Posted 296 days ago 51Hello,
first of all let me thank you for this excellent post.
I just want to add a website.
http://qip.li is the easiest way to create and publish html pages, you can create a page with 1 click, you write your own (HTML/CSS/JAVASCRIPT) code, so your imagination is the limit, and Every page has it’s own subdomain.
so you can easly create and publish html pages online,
site url: http://qip.li
The website is also availabe on the chrome web store: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/kmmajbhpbnboioaeobgeefcjnchhijoj?hl=en-US

Posted 313 days ago 50wow i am impressed and now overwhelmed…this will take me one week to check them all out..is there a place where i can choose according to my needs?
after my experience with pretty rigid template that never look like the samples they show, i have become a little skeptical…because i need
to show my own domain on url and not the hosting company’s ,no dumb non paying advertising, download my blogs easily; and i i need to have a place for people to connect with some control;i need to sell sell sell and i need real people saying real things on the other end( with customer service); i would like an easy uncluttered drag and drop process
.. have not found yet all of the above and frankly this will take at least 3 days to figure out.
i would love to have your opininon of ning types of web sites too…because i need to grow with social media but i cannot be sucked in completely by it.

Posted 434 days ago 40Ok, I’ve been doing a lot of research and it seemed like the top website builders were:
1. Yola – not a lot of attractive templates available, easy-medium difficulty, easy free domain name (http://20ninedesign.yolasite.com/)
2. Wix – beautiful flash templates, slow at uploading site and pictures, medium difficulty, undesirably long and free domain name. (http://www.wix.com/myocgirl/design)
3. Webs- easiest to build, great template options but ugly wix advertisements that have nothing to do with your site, easy and free domain name. (http://prestine.webs.com/)
4. Moonfruit – difficult and confusing to use, pretty templates, easy and free domain (http://20ninedesign.moonfruit.com/)
In order for me to really get an idea of how difficult it was to use each site, I went ahead and built free websites from each so you can click on each link to see what you get with a free site. Notice how some has obnoxious advertisements and some have modest advertising. Also notice how long each takes to load up. These were all made for practice so don’t take the content too seriously. :)

Posted 439 days ago 38Wow, I didn’t even know half of these options existed. It’s almost overwhelming for anyone new to web design to choose where to begin. Personally I’m sticking to wordpress for any future design.

Posted 452 days ago 37great information, thank you! so far I have been using Webs.com, which I really like, and also tried Wix. Wix is a flash website, so looks really good, but is a bit slow uploading. I am worried it may put vistors to my site off.. I would try it for a simple site, with optimised images, and probably no videos.

Posted 491 days ago 35I would be very wary of any website builder that didn’t allow me to easily export my content.
Curious you didn’t mention the most popular WordPress.com.
Or Blogspot.com.
The most advanced site builder is DrupalGardens.com by far.

Posted 543 days ago 34I am a Wix Pro. I started creating for my own interior design business and after submitting 3 sites for evaluation I became a Pro. This is the coolest one. You can take the shapes, cliparts and modify them with “elements”, “behaviors” and “animations”. With some practice you can make a site look like Photoshop work but fast. My page is http://www.arena.wix.com/glogianos

Posted 435 days ago 39I’m trying moonfruit.com, yola.com and now I’m looking into indigloo and wix. Is it true that unless you PAY for an upgraded site, that your FREE site comes with wix.com ads? Thanks for your help.

Posted 386 days ago 41I have been working with WIX to build my website and absolutely fell in love with it. it is the best drop&drag out there. However, they do not host and so i was unable to publish the site..also, i couldn’t find it after publishing??? I am trying Weebly at the moment but i am not sure if I need separate hosting??
to answer you question…yes the ads for wix stay on unless you get the premium and it is a bit expensive…

Posted 606 days ago 32Thank you for taking the time to make a comprehensive list for us would be website makers! I wish I would have had this at my fingertips before today!
Also, I wanted to give you my personal feedback on the WIX flash site builder. I love it! It’s easy to use, fun (even my kids do it). My daughter uses it for her personal website as well as her charity website and we have had nothing but EXCELLENT customer service form the support staff and hours of fun creating different looks. They offer a plethora of images, clip art and animations to really personalize your website. Also, there are many base templates to get you started if you’re in a hurry.
My only not so pleased response to WIX is that because it’s FLASH, it takes some time to load (depending on the users internet speed and the computer’s capabilities).
In conclusion, if someone is new to website creating, be they young or not so young, WIX offers a fun and simple way to create attractive, interactive and cheap websites in the blink of an eye. You are only limited to your own creativity.
Thanks again for your article!

Posted 606 days ago 33Oh thanks a lot for your personal insight in Wix – I never really tried it myself..since I like handcoded sites, but as you said – great for people without coding knowledge to simply do it for fun and go public easily! :)
Thank you again for feedback!
