    Rather incomplete!
Especially when it comes to pro arrangments. Just one missing: amazon s3, offering even two prices depending on security level.
Please also do not forget: the server-country might be a worth a second thought!
Have fun backing up getting a NAS and e.g. DYNDNS

Nice thing about iDrive is that they have released a WordPress plugin that will update your site/blog to your iDrive account…. NICE!

I prefer to keep my scripts on a RAID 10 array at home.

I use DropBox and have my local working Git directory on my PC set up there.

    Thanks for sharing these.

Dropbox is fantastic, but the largest package is just 100GB, which is not big enough for all my photos and music.

I actually backup directly to Amazon S3 using Arq Backup software (Mac only). The advatange of Amazon S3 over some of the options listed above is you have total control over your data and you are with a very big company, which is unlikely to suddenly go out of business and delete all your backups.

Just want to let you know, the link for DropBox has a typo in it. The double slash is breaking the link.

Dropbox won my heart a long time ago.

Even though traditional online backup services such as Mozy work very well, I think the sync-based services are the most convenient backup services because they do not only provide backup but also make it extremely easy to share files across multiple computers. I have been using Syncplicity for more than a year now and it is a wonderful experience to have all my files synched between my desktop development PC and my laptop. When I go to a client I don’t have to worry about copying my work to my laptop or taking a usb stick because as soon as I start-up my laptop the file is already synched from my desktop.

We previously use Zumo (not included in your review) but recently switched to DropBox and love it. The one thing that would make DropBox really difficult to beat would be if they added file check-in/check-out for file versioning and making sure a file was not being worked on by two users at the same time.

Zumo was nice but we did not like its security so we had to drop it.

All these plans are OK until I see that just my client backup files are over 3000GB… very expensive on all those mentioned. What about http://www.mediafire.com. I have looked at this and think its for all design companies (it can even be branded!) anyone know if its a good option or know of anything similar?

Dropbox is just great all around, even has apps for Andriod & iPad

  22. tee are

i like the dropbox too.. but i haven’t try SugarSync

JungleDisk (https://www.jungledisk.com/) is missing in your comparison. And maybe Wuala (http://www.wuala.com/).

Besides this, nice article and review.

    Nice article.
I think the best solution is a mix of everything.
I have a Mozy account for a complete backup of my computer and for unchanged files (like RAW photos), Time Machine for daily credential backups, and a free account at SugarSync to syncronize project i’m working on between home and office.

It’s interesting to note that Mozy doesn’t allow to upload files bigger than 4Gb (I believe Carbonite neither).

I love dropbox, allows me to keep my files up-to-date on all computers and when I am somewhere without a laptop and need a file I can get it from the dropbox.com website. Much easier to use this than try and remember to backup to a hard drive!

Agree, I set it up so fast and it’s so easy and useful. Thanks for sharing.

      1. Saad Bassi

Agreed. Dropbox is awesome but I use a mix of all apps.

        1. Jeprie

Thanks for sharing. This is very useful. I already use dropbox, it’s awesome and free.
What else do you use, beside Dropbox?
