Having the skills/knowledge in both areas can give you a leg up. Like you are pointing out, design and seo/marketing are closely connected and website marketing strategy needs to be a starting point. I’ve worked with many website that were poorly designed from the SEO perspective. The client always looses unless they hire a professional who understands at least the basic seo/marketing principals.

Today Internet is growing day by day, the reason for the huge growth is that the way people make decisions has fundamentally changed; and search engines are now an integral part of the research and buying process. SEO is an important aspect of Internet which is used to describe the process designing your website in a way that it will appear higher in search engine rankings.

Tips for Web Designers From an Internet Marketers Perspective…

There seems to be a disconnect across departments of a web agency.  This post discusses the relationship specifically between the web designer and the internet marketer….

Awesome stuff… web designers and marketing working together but don’t forget us lowly copywriters… we’re in the mix. What to say, how to say it, how best to structure the content/ funnels/ flows (and therefore the site), what words to use (to engage, lead and convert… not to mention for SEO), the dirty work of crafting the ‘message’, tone of voice branding…
Sure you can call that marketing (that’s where we copywriters sit in the corporate world) but would be nice if a whole profession got a bit of a mention!
    :)

    Thanks for the informative article.

These days however I do think that web designers need to know more about SEO, social media and marketing as these areas strongly affect many of the ever evolving web design principles.

A web designer can’t really be an effective designer without knowing at least the basics of SEO, social media and marketing.

As a Content Strategist, I’m always glad to see someone encouraging web teams to work together. Content Strategists need to work with designers, marketers, developers and SEO strategists to build useful and usable sites.

Thanks for sharing the details of SEO techniques and updates on how the search engines are ranking. it’s always good for all of us, no matter our discipline, to keep up with thiss. Content isn’t worth much if no one sees it, eh?

    1. Saad Bassi

And no one will see you content If its not worth reading. These cases are vice versa. What do you think?
