Patterns actually can be found almost everywhere – in print design, web design, graphic design etc. For example if you use pattern in web design, just set CSS repeat-x-y and you’ll get beautiful background,but image will be very small and page load time will be much faster. There are very big variety how you can use and implement patterns, but the fact is – free resources – like patterns, brushes, shapes are big time savers. Of course it’s better to create your own stuff, but sometimes you receive project with fast deadline and you need everything to do fast and this is one of the solutions.
This list just features 22 resource sites and several very well written articles with premade pattern collections, it was very interesting for me to write this article, I am hoping it will be interesting reading and useful resource for bookmarking.
Did you know there are huge collection of free patterns as well?
Really huge collection, a lot of old patterns, but in the bunch I found many useful ones too, there are also pattern maker.
Many creative patterns, also mouse over evil ladybug, kill the fly for extra fun – beautiful website.
Site hasn’t been updated for a while, but still many beautiful patterns can be found there.
Deviantart is everything related to art, of course there are big collections of patterns!
Design and all those advertisements aren’t quite welcoming, but still a lot of patterns there.

And of course how could I miss the ultimate collection with Photoshop patterns from SmashingMagazine.
Nice and very fresh collection from VectorDiary.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many sites that offer patterns at one place! Thank you for that extensive work and for sharing it here. I use those all the time, and mostly I make my own, but it would be nice from time to time to cut some slack and just choose from the ones already made.

As always, another great collection. Only problem is it encourages me to be creatively lazy – why strain my brain when I can get such great work here!

I’m currently trying to think where threaded comments fit in the roadmap right now, but it is something that is definitely planned. We’re not going to say people *have* to use threaded comments, but the system shouldn’t restrict people who want to have that option. Plus for larger conversations I think threaded comments make everything easier to follow.
