I was just looking for this information for some time. After six hours of continuous Googleing, finally I got it in your site. I wonder what’s the Google’s issue that does not rank this kind of informative web sites closer to the top. Usually the top websites are full of garbage.

I would like to show appreciation to you just for rescuing me from this type of difficulty. After searching throughout the the net and coming across views which are not powerful, I thought my entire life was over. Living without the strategies to the issues you have fixed through your main guide is a crucial case, as well as those which might have in a wrong way damaged my career if I hadn’t encountered your blog post. Your own talents and kindness in controlling all things was very helpful. I don’t know what I would have done if I hadn’t encountered such a stuff like this. It’s possible to now look ahead to my future. Thank you very much for the expert and sensible guide. I won’t be reluctant to refer the blog to any individual who needs guide on this matter.

Awesome post!!
One of my favorite sites has an awesome footer, and I’ve never seen the technique done before, it’s ThinkGeek.com. Scroll up and down and watch it change :) Such a simple use of transparency and yet it’s simply awesome!

You can pre-load some heavy images of the next pages (that can be reached by clicking on links within the current page) by defining them at the footer of the current web page. For example, img src=”nextimage” height =”1″ width=”1″ inserts a 1×1 pixel image in the footer that is read by the browser when the code above it has been read. Thereafter, while your visitor is viewing your main page, images of the next page will continue to download to the viewer’s PC in the background and will reduce subsequent web page load times. This is not recommended for direct Adwords landing pages because Google has recently announced that high web page load time will negatively impact the landing page quality score.

I didn’t realise until recently how often I DO actually look at site footers. If they have valuable information that I need, I’ll spend time looking at them. After looking at this selection, I think I’ll work on one for myself at some point :)

Back in the day I used to not give any attention to footers, just put some brief info at the bottom and call it a day. I’ve learned the error of my ways!

Dainis,
Very nice collection of stylish footers. I think footers are underrated and should have more thought involved in them. A good footer can be a great way for a user to quickly navigate your site (like a quick site map), as well as connect socially.

Some great examples of footer design. Although, to play devil’s advocate, don’t you think an unbalanced footer can disrupt the visual hierarchy of the page and attract attention that should go to the more important upper portion of the page instead?

Just because the footer is the last thing you see doesn’t mean it should be anything less than awesome. These are really great examples of some well-designed footers.
