I kind of got lost a little bit in creating Monthly Deviantart web interface features, but at least I loved to do research and get inspired every month, and since our blog is focused mainly on web design, I am sure you enjoy it as well. Let’s get started, get inspired and watch how trends are slowly changing from month to month.
More and more visually appealing and image heavy websites are being created, and of course we’ve got a reason – days with slow Internet speed are going to past and technologies are evolving every day! Let’s get started – shall we?

There are GOOD designs and some are NOT REALISTIC, that means sellable.
These seems made by designers in Photoshop without knowledge about prime space and resolutions of monitors. They have an extravagant usage of space, because on a Mac Cinemascreen is enough of that. But please, think about netbooks with 1024×768. Who wants to scroll a mile to get to the content?
For a portfolio is that ok, but not for blogs or other content-based pages.
On some page, that main content is somewhere down after plenty of scrolling. Nobody with knowledge about marketing would buy such a page. Also some product-images have photoshop effects inside the image. I´m really curious about, how this will implemented technically with thousands of images.
Most designs are here are good, but not all.

Thanks, some designs are beautiful :-)

a great collection indeed, what we can notice by this is the big number of designs using those “blurry lights” on the background, do not misunderstand me, i love those unfocused circles (i used them a lot on many kinds of projects), but i feel it’s time to move on, every time i see them again i think something like “oh, another one that has founded those brushes on deviantart :P” by the way, as most of these collections, i’ve bookmarked and will be back many times to have some inspirational moments…
i’ll make my last blurry light design soon. XD

With all due respect, those are about the ugliest websites I’ve seen in a long time. Deviantart is just plain bad.

Sadly, almost 50% is poor web design.
Friday, January 15th, 2010 18:04
Totally agree on that.
Some are just far beyond being good or trendy. Seems more like a rough look at the deviantart webdesigns as there are plenty of good designs that are way above those posted here :/

I took a look into your own Gallery on deviantart. Be sure, you should be the last one who says these Designs look poor.

Some of them are good.
The ones I liked the most are 8, 9, 30 and 41. Most of the other ones are a bit too cluttered.

Some workable designs here, but a lot of them are proof that being decent in photoshop doesn’t mean you understand web design, or some of the limitations that come with it.

In my experience as a web designer i can say that the best web designs are those wich both the front and inner page designs are great. By seeing only the front page i can say they just look nice. Anyway they are inspiring, thanks for the list.
