More people already have a WordPress powered site as a blog and some have never know they can use it as a CMS too, but they may have heard of it. In reality, WordPress is an awesome tool for managing your different kinds of sites as a CMS. When I tell people about this, they often ask me for some examples of non-blogging sites using WordPress, so i want to show something that really stands out.
Now I’m finally going to showcase a good selection of sites that I can point them to for several examples. Some sites just look good. Who knows more about website usability than a website designer? As I’m sure you know, big design firms and corporations sometimes pay to have people test the usability and design of their new sites. Why not get in on that? You can go to UserTesting.com and sign up to test out new sites. Just like the offline equivalent of participating in focus groups or marketing surveys, your web experience is valuable, and some companies will pay to pick your brain.

I’m using WordPress at my travel blog, and since we’re allowing users to create their own travel photoblogs with geotagged pics and the like at FavTrip.com, we’re rapidly evolving into a pretty involved CMS ourselves.

Great list. I have had a “main” regular html/css website and a companion blog for a few years, and recently combined them into one under wordpress. The vast array of templates and plugins, plus the ongoing bug fixes and increasing stability of WordPress has really made wordpress based sites a viable option. I’m happy with my site’s results and just finished a client’s site on wordpress, also with good results.

I used to work on CollegeCrunch. WordPress still needs to work on page management. Creating a structure of pages, sub-pages and sub sub-pages and moving things around was a pain in the butt. Listing the sub-pages under a given page was also difficult. Otherwise WP is an amazing piece of software.
