20 Most Valuable SEO Plugins For WordPress

Mobile-Interface-Plugins-for-Wordpress-and-toolsWordPress is one among the popular weblog publishing platforms available on the web. There are millions of blogs based on WordPress.

Search engines are the best way to promote, publicize and help people discover your content. Thus, it is very important to optimize your blog or web site so that search engines can discover your content and understand how relevant it is to specific search queries.

WordPress, in addition to providing you with the state-of-the-art publishing platform, also provides plethora of plugins for Search Engine Optimization(SEO). Some plugins are really effective whereas some are not. To help you find the right plugin for your web site, we have composed some of the best SEO plugins.

1. All in one SEO Pack

One among the most popular and widely discussed plugins for WordPress. This plugin is easy to use and is compatible with most WordPress plugins. It works as an overall SEO plugin – automatically generating META tags and optimizes your titles for search engines and helps you in avoiding duplicate content. This plugin also enables you to manually include META tags (title, description and keywords) for each page and post in your web site.

2. HeadSpace2

A powerful all-in-one plugin to manage meta-data and handle a wide range of SEO tasks. It allows you to tag your posts, create custom titles and descriptions, thereby improves your page ranking and relevance on search engines. You can also change the theme or load plugins on specific pages and much more. This plugin is available in multiple languages.

3. Platinum SEO plugin

4. TGFI.net SEO WordPress Plugin

This plugin is a fairly modified version of the all-in-one SEO Pack. The unique feature of this plugin is that, it’s directed at people who use WordPress as a CMS. It can auto generate titles, descriptions and keywords when overrides are not present and also avoids duplicate content.

5. Google XML Sitemaps

Generates an XML sitemap supported by Google, Bing, Yahoo and Ask. Sitemaps make it much easier for crawlers to see the complete structure of your web site and retrieve more efficiently. It also notifies all major search engines every time you create a new post. You can either choose to write a normal XML file or a zipped file. In case of any errors, you can rebuild the sitemap manually. As a remark, Pingomatic can be used to ping your blog to multiple search engines and other specialized services.

6. Sitemap Generator

Creates a highly customizable sitemap for your WordPress powered web site. It enables you to choose what to show and what not to including – what order to list the items in. It supports multi-level categories, pages and permalinks.

7. SEO Slugs

Slugs are long filenames assigned to your posts. Ex: http://yourblog.com/what-you-can-do-immediately-for-higher-rankings. This plugin removes common words like ‘a’, ‘the’,’in’,’what’,’you’ etc. from the automatically assigned post slug to make it more Search Engine friendly.

8. SEO Post Links

This plugin works similar to SEO slugs. It shortens the post slug and retains only the necessary keywords making it Search Engine friendly. It allows you to choose the longest number of characters in your post slug and also remove unnecessary words.

9. Automatic SEO links

Just choose a word or a phrase for automatic linking and this plugin will replace all matches in the posts of your weblog. It allows you to set the title, target and rel. for each link. You can also set the anchor text and choose if it should be no-follow or not. If there are repeated words, only the first matched word in the post will be replaced.

10. SEO Smart links

Automatically links keywords and phrases on your blog with corresponding posts, pages, categories or tags on your blog. It allows you to set up your own keywords and a list of matching URLs and also set the no-follow attribute. You can customize it according to your needs through the Administration Settings Panel.

11. WP Backlinks

This plugin helps in making the task of link exchange very simple. Once installed, it puts a small form on the sidebar of your blog that allows webmasters and other bloggers to quickly submit a link for link exchange. The plugin will spider the webmasters site for a reciprocal link and if everything is successful you will have made a successful link exchange. It also has the option of displaying different links on different pages.

12. SEO Title Tag

SEO Title Tag makes it easy to optimize the title tags across your WordPress powered blog. It allows you to override a page’s title tag with a custom one, mass editing of title tags, title tags for 404 error pages and much more.

13. 404 SEO plugin

Gives you a smart, customized ‘Page Not Found(404)’ error message and automatically displays links to relevant pages on your site, based on the words in the URL that was not found.

14. Redirection

This plugin helps you to manage 301 redirections, to keep track of 404 errors and also correct them. It also allows you to monitor your redirects by giving you full logs of all redirected URLs and also RSS feed for 404 errors. Automatically adds a redirection when a posts URL changes.

15. Simple Submit SEO/Social Bookmarking Plugin

This plugin adds submission links for Digg, Delicious, Buzz, and Stumble to pages and posts. It allows you to choose whether to display it on home page, post page, all pages etc.

16. AntiSocial

Social is HUGE! Outstanding list of plugins. With the Panda update, on-page SEO is back on the front burner for marketers, bloggers, and online business owners. All-In-One SEO Pack has got to be the top plugin, as you stated. I can’t even think about not using this plugin. Google XML Sitemap and Broken Links are also must-have installs. There are many SEO plugins that can measure your pages for optimization as well. Yoast is a fine choice. Thanks once again for the list. Peace.

I definitely enjoying every little bit of it and I have you bookmarked to check out new stuff you blog post.I also find a page with more information about seo and especially with the seo service very cheap that you can refer.

  18. says

Very good article. I have recently started using: Lazy SEO Rockstar which is a world press SEO plugin to automatically find High PR sites such as: .gov & .edu This tool has helped me to build awesome SEO back links for my SEO client’s websites. The result is much quicker keyword rankings on Google. The plug-in also has a number of other really good tools such as a ‘mass tagger’ module that tags all my posts automatically. Another tool I love is: Post LSI, which enables me to quickly establish which keywords have been used by visitors to the sites. I then use the Mass tagger function to automatically tag all posts. Saves so much time. One dynamite of a plugin does the majority of our offsite and onsite SEO.

You can visit the site to watch the video which outlines the functions. Simple to use, and very powerful.

  19. Alex says

Thanks for the great round up. I recently put together my own list of SEO plugins, but included a few that help with off-page promotion as well as solving the on page and architecture issues, which is something that often gets forgotten about when considering all the SEO needs of your WordPress site.

Thanks for the suggestions. I’m also trying out “google positioner” however, it doesn’t seem to be working out so far. I spent tons of time inputting the keywords, however, it keeps giving me an “internal server error” and the plugin webpage is just a blank wp 2.9 demo theme with no content (very discouraging…lol).

Anyhow, I appreciate the article and will check some of these ones out (already using All In One SEO Pack…which is awesome)

  37. says

That’s a nice bunch of plugins you have mate! But I think you should add Keyword Winner SEO WordPress plugin to your list. It is now one of the most effective WP plugins that I have ever used today, and I’m totally impressed with it.

  38. Keyword Winner says

Its a wonderful but just to update u recently i saw the Keyword Winner which is rocking and it has amazing features hope u will add to ur list …

  39. says

Srikanth this is one of the most comprehensive lists that I’ve seen on the web as of yet. Usually bloggers point out how All in One SEO Pack is the grandaddy of SEO plugins and then name a few others, but you go as far to point out the benefits of other plugins such as Platinum SEO Pack which is essentially a modified beefed-up version of AIO SEO and even provide screenshots.

That’s definitely the mark of a blogger who knows his plugins.

I’ll be referencing this post on my main blog.

  40. Warner Carter says

Thanks for showing the images of the plugin settings pages, that was very helpful.

  41. Emma says

Nice plugins for wordpress, I really like to use all of them.

Thanks for suggesting us. I was searching for it for optimizing my website.

  42. says

Thanks for sharing this amazingly comprehensive list of SEO plugins. I am very certain it will come in handy, really appreciate it.

  43. Anything Graphic says

Very nice compliation. I am currently using All-In-One right now. I am going to give a few others a try and see if I like the features and ease of use better.

    Thanks for the tips!

  44. Jal says

SEO friendly Images is rather good. Just installed it. I also want to suggest one plugin: Smart404. This plugin avoids showing the 404 page. Instead, it tries to get the most relevant post from the lot. If you publicize your post on social networks and then mistakenly change the slug, it ends up in 404. But Smart404 resolves that.

  45. says

Even if they’re all good, WP Backlinks seems to me very useful.
Thanks for the listing, I’ll have to use them in weeks.

  46. says

A great comprehensive list of plu-ins! Will def be trying the SEO friendly images and Redirection. Pretty much use the others and can def recommend AntiSocial. Looking forward to seeing more suggestions in the future :-)

  47. says

This was def one complete roundup of SEO plugins ! Although I myself use the All in One Seo plugin , some of the others look very promising as well. I was not aware so many existed , thank you for gathering up this great list :) Great post !
